Application to Domain Controls

Reminder: Taxonomic Principle

It is now taken as a principle that the apparent correspondences in taxonomic frameworks relate not to the Root Level as such, but rather to a psychosocial pressure that is intrinsic to the Root Level.

The psychosocial pressures function as internal and external drivers or motivators. They are probably of neuro-biological origin and cannot be turned off. However, their manifestations may be suppressed.

Grouping
Psychosocial
Pressure
G7- KL7 is subject to pressure for Selflessness
G6 - KL6 is subject to pressure for Well-being
G5 - KL5 is subject to pressure for Acceptability
G4 - KL4 is subject to pressure for Certainty
G3 - KL3 is subject to pressure for Performance
G2 - KL2 is subject to pressure for Understanding
G1 - KL1 is subject to pressure for Autonomy

Explanation with Two Examples

Any explanation of the ordering of the psychosocial pressures must apply equal to every Structural Hierarchy within the taxonomy. (It is currently estimated that there are 67 in all.)

An application to Primal Fields found in the Domain Fundamentals was considered here. It is necessary now to take examples from the Domain Controls to confirm the Field concept and correspondence makes sense. (However, note that this is where the correspondence was discovered.)

I will use Action Domain and Purpose Domain as my examples for the Control sH-Triplets.

Domain Spiral-Tree:
Primal Need
Spiral-sH:
Control Effect
sH-Tree:
Control Field
RL6: Purpose
Means: Politics
Determinants of Governance Exercising
Autonomy
Participation in Politics
RL1: Action
Means: Management
Determinants of Achievement Improving Performance Expectations of Management

The originating Tree in Controls for Action-RL1/PH1 specifies the Determinants of Achievement. The Control Field for these is the Expectations of Management Tree. The effects of these expectations are shown in the Spiral-derived Structural Hierarchy whose components are focused on Improving Performance.

The originating Tree in Controls for Purpose-RL6/PH6 specifies the Determinants of Governance. The Control Field for these is Participation in Politics Tree. The effects of this participation are shown in the Spiral-derived Structural Hierarchy whose components are focused on Exercising Autonomy.

Abbreviations:Closed Levels in the originating Tree are marked CL, while Levels in the final Tree are marked CG (which correctly ties them to the sH Groupings).

The argument that follows is identical to that provided for the Domain Fundamentals.

CG1 is the foundation of the Field, everything must find its basis there. It appears to be under the pressure of autonomy.

  • Action Domain ControlCG1 = set expectations.
  • Purpose Domain Control: CG1 = accept social responsibility.

In both examples, it seems evident that if functioning is not autonomous, then all control is vitiated.

CG2 typically provides a control that effectively guides the use of G1. It appears to be under the pressure of understanding. It seems evident that once autonomy has been activated, it is essential to be able to communicate those choices both to oneself and others.

  • In Action Domain Control: CG2 = assign authority.
  • In Purpose Domain Control: CG2 = appreciate political work.

The dyads link adjacent monads and overlap. This ensures a consistency and coherence in the control structure i.e. the management expectations or the political participation.

CG3 is typically the context and appears to be under a pressure for performance, the RL1 pressure.

  • In Action Domain Control: CG3 = assign authority.
  • In Purpose Domain Control: CG3 = support mobilization

Correspondence then continues in ascending Root Level order, so:

CG4 is under the RL2 pressure for certainty:

  • In Action Domain Control: CG4 = track personal performance.
  • In Purpose Domain Control: CG4 = demand issue resolution

CG5 is under the RL3 pressure for acceptability:

  • In Action Domain Control: CG5 = offer flexibility.
  • In Purpose Domain Control: CG5 = authorize leadership

CG6 is under the RL4 pressure for well-being:

  • In Action Domain Control: CG6 = show commitment.
  • In Purpose Domain Control: CG6 = channel political will

CG7 is under RL7 pressure for selflessness:

  • In Action Domain Control: CG7 = use incentives.
  • In Purpose Domain Control: CG7 = maintain social stability.

Field Division

The Control Field Tree also possesses an internal duality, whose division splits the upper 3 context levels from the lower 4 cntent levels. These are summarized in the Naming Investigation. Note that, unlike in the Fundamentals, the internal duality is not used for naming the final sH Control Tree.

The division between G5 and G6, shows a similar significance. The upper two levels enable persistence and continuity of the Control Field by involving the most personal and most impersonal pressures; while the lower five levels which deal with what is actually occurring enable change of the Control Field.

This completes the main part of the investigation of the Root Projection.

The final focus of investigation of the Root Projection, the Q-expansion, took place much later and benefited from the findings and hypotheses developed in this section. The study was performed as part of the Naming investigation.
